CLINTON — The Clinton River Queens (4-2) had a chance to tie Pleasant Valley (5-3) after being down by as many as 16 points on Tuesday night but a late turnover went in favor of the Spartans as they held on for the 49-46 win.

The two Mississippi Athletic Conference foes showed off a multitude of strengths and weaknesses in a game of runs but it was Pleasant Valley’s defense who was the true star. Their zone defense gave Clinton trouble, leading to an 11-1 start.
