The New York Times is reporting<\/a> that FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino is already clearing out his office ahead of leaving President Donald Trump\u2019s administration. <\/p>\n

Bongino had said that he planned to leave his FBI post either this week or next month. <\/p>\n

But the Times said that Bongino\u2019s actions show that he could be departing sooner rather than later. <\/p>\n

Sources told the Times that Bongino has been sending \u201coffice knickknacks and other possessions back to Florida.\u201d<\/p>\n

They said that the former Fox News analyst is planning to resume his career as a pro-Trump broadcaster in time for the 2026 midterm elections.<\/p>\n

But two sources told Fox News<\/a> that Bongino will make a decision about his future with the FBI within the next few weeks.<\/p>\n

The sources denied reports that Bongino\u2019s office at the FBI is empty. But they said that the deputy\u2019s departure is possible in the near future. <\/p>\n

A source familiar with the situation told Fox News Digital that Bongino has not made any decisions about his future.<\/p>\n

Bongino and FBI Director Kash Patel have come under fire in recent weeks. <\/p>\n

A report from a coalition of active-duty and retired FBI officials said that the bureau was directionless under Patel and Bongino\u2019s leadership. <\/p>\n

The two leaders pushed back against the accusation, pointing to wide-ranging reforms that they say have resulted in major gains in FBI accountability and have boosted public safety.<\/p>\n
