{"id":7382,"date":"2025-10-18T09:19:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-18T09:19:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/7382\/"},"modified":"2025-10-18T09:19:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-18T09:19:08","slug":"texas-marine-quoc-jake-nguyen-uber-driver-murder-arrests-three-teens-harris-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/7382\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas Marine Quoc Jake Nguyen Uber driver murder arrests three teens Harris County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three teenage boys have been arrested in the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/10\/us-news\/marine-veteran-jake-hieu-quoc-nguyen-found-shot-dead-on-side-of-texas-road-after-uber-shift\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">killing of a Texas\u00a0Marine veteran<\/a>\u00a0who was working as a rideshare driver to support his mother and sister, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>The arrests are tied to the Sept. 4 death of 28-year-old Quoc \u201cJake\u201d Nguyen, who was found dead along a roadside after being shot, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>A 15-year-old has been charged with\u00a0capital murder, while a 14-year-old and 13-year-old face charges of tampering with evidence.<\/p>\n<p>All three were taken into custody in recent days and booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center, Gonzalez said.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators believe the teens shot Nguyen, stole his vehicle and property and fled.<\/p>\n<p>Nguyen\u2019s brother, Matthew, told Fox Houston his brother had been driving for Uber to help support their mother and sister.<\/p>\n<p>The Nguyen family immigrated to Houston from Vietnam several years ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the time he was driving that night, he had a rideshare\u00a0from Uber,\u201d Matthew Nguyen said. \u201cHe picked up one customer and dropped him off downtown After that, he still had some people in the car. Uber confirmed that\u2019s the last time they heard from him.<\/p>\n<p>Quoc \u201cJake\u201d Nguyen was found dead along a roadside after being shot on Sept. 4, 2025. Harris County Sheriff&#8217;s Office<\/p>\n<p>Nguyen had been driving for Uber to help support his mother and sister.
