LOS ANGELES \u2014 Rob Reiner\u2019s twisted son Nick Reiner<\/a> wore a vacant stare and a blue suicide vest as he appeared in court for the first time Wednesday after he was charged with slaughtering his parents inside their Brentwood mansion.<\/p>\n

Nick stared straight ahead and offered no hint of emotion during the brief court appearance, which saw him stand shackled and behind a glass wall.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old nepo baby did not enter a plea<\/a> and only uttered \u201cYes, your honor\u201d when asked if he waived his right to a speedy trial.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He\u2019s facing two counts of first-degree murder for the violents deaths of beloved director Rob, 78, and Michele Singer Reiner, 70.\u00a0<\/p>\n

His top-dollar lawyer, Alan Jackson, and prosecutors agreed to push off his arraignment until Jan. 7.<\/p>\n

Judge Theresa McGonigle prohibited photos and video to be taken of Reiner in court at the request of the defense.<\/p>\n

Following the five-minute appearance, Jackson \u2014 known for a string of high-profile clients \u2014 urged the public to allow the process to play and not rush to judgment.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost importantly, this is a devastating tragedy that has befallen the Reiner family,\u201d Jackson said outside court.\u00a0\u201cWe all recognize that.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur hearts go out to the entire Reiner family,\u201d he added. \u201cThere are very, very complex and serious issues that are associated with this case.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nick could\u00a0face the death penalty if he\u2019s convicted of the high-profile double-slaying because prosecutors hit him with a \u201cspecial circumstance\u201d \u2014 an aggravating factor related to the allegation that he killed more than one person.<\/p>\n

He allegedly slashed both his parents\u2019 throats early Sunday and was later arrested roughly 15 miles away hours later, according to authorities.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the latest on the death of Rob Reiner:<\/p>\n

His arraignment was initially scheduled for Tuesday<\/a>, but his celebrity lawyer Alan Jackson said he was not medically cleared to travel to court.<\/p>\n

The Reiners\u2019 daughter, Romy<\/a>, stumbled on the gruesome crime scene when she went to check on her parents after a massage therapist received no response at the gate, the New York Times reported.<\/p>\n

Nick had long faced troubles with drug addiction, cycling in and out of rehab at least 17 times.<\/p>\n

Nick displayed erratic behavior<\/a> that caught the attention of other guests at the bash, and the nepo brat even got into a tiff with comedian Bill Hader<\/a>, sources told outlets.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s also had a tumultuous relationship with his father for years, including when he had an argument with his parents at Conan O\u2019Brien\u2019s holiday party Saturday night, according to sources.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman said during a Tuesday press conference his office has not yet determined if prosecutors will pursue the death penalty against Nick, though the decision might not matter.<\/p>\n

In 2019, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed an executive order halting all executions.
