In addition to upgrades for modern living, this renovated Prospect Heights apartment has some style nods to its 1930s origin. On the top floor of 55 Eastern Parkway, the move-in-ready unit has a sunken living room, a dining gallery, wood floors, and a vintage yellow tub.<\/p>\n

Developed by apartment house builders Leon A. and Murray Kellner, the Colonial Revival-style building was completed in 1939. A press blurb<\/a> that year described the apartments in the six-story, 47-unit building as having \u201call the modern conveniences that the present-day housekeeper desires.\u201d The spacious apartments included dropped living rooms, dining galleries, foyers of \u201cexceptional size,\u201d and bathrooms with colored tile.<\/p>\n

This one-bedroom does indeed have a spacious foyer with picture rails, a niche with shelves, and enough room for an office. The foyer is open to the living room, which has two windows and is large enough for a flexible setup.<\/p>\n

An iron railing defines the dining area, which opens into the renovated kitchen. Here there are all white cabinets and counters. The updated appliances include a dishwasher.<\/p>\n

A short hall off the foyer includes a closet and a laundry area with a sink and full-sized washer and dryer.<\/p>\n

In the bedroom, storage comprises three closets. The room also has two windows and space for a king-sized bed.<\/p>\n

There is only a small glimpse of the bathroom in the listing photos, but it looks like it might have some vintage charm with a yellow tub and peach and black floor tile. Previous listings in the building show bathrooms with Deco-era yellow wall tile as well, but that isn\u2019t visible here.<\/p>\n

Maintenance for this unit is $1,375 a month. Amenities in the building include a live-in super, free bike storage, and a landscaped courtyard.<\/p>\n

Matthew Wojnarowicz and Eileen McGill of Howard Hanna Real Estate have the current listing, and the apartment is priced at $775,000. Worth it?<\/p>\n
