STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 National home prices are on the rise \u2013 climbing more than 2% since last year, according to the National Association of Realtors, and over the past several months, more than 20% of all the homes that sold throughout the United States were purchased above list price.<\/p>\n

So where are these enviable purchases being made? And is NYC part of this bidding war market? <\/p>\n

According to a report from StreetEasy<\/a>, buyers in the five boroughs are willing to pay over asking to beat the competition. Approximately 44% of the homes in Park Slope, Brooklyn, went above the average sale-to-list ratio, while 38% of homes in the West Village also sold higher than asking. <\/p>\n

On Staten Island, the Staten Island Board of Realtors reported that 679 of 2,441 homes sold in 2025 were purchased for more than the property\u2019s original asking price. <\/p>\n
