MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) \u2013 Drivers are being asked to avoid 7th Avenue in Manhattan on Saturday due to the \u201cNo Kings\u201d protest<\/a>, according to the NYPD.<\/p>\n

The department posted on X that West 57th Street to 14th Street is closed to traffic. Protesters<\/a> are marching down 7th Avenue, starting at Father Duffy Square, against the Trump administration\u2019s policies.<\/p>\n

The NYPD posted a statement on X saying,<\/p>\n

\u201cThe No Kings protests are happening across the city today. The NYPD will be out to make sure everyone can peacefully and safely exercise their first amendment right. As a reminder, there will be zero tolerance for any illegal activity or anyone who breaks the law.\u201d<\/p>\n

The New York City Police Department<\/p>\n

Organizers of the \u201cNo Kings\u201d march<\/a> are encouraging protesters to stay peaceful and practice de-escalation.<\/p>\n

MTA buses in Manhattan are also being detoured due to protest activity, according to New York City Transit. The protest was expected to end around 1 p.m.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s one of more than 2,500 \u201cNo Kings\u201d marches planned across the U.S. Protests focused on the government shutdown, ICE detainments and the deployment of National Guard troops to major cities.<\/p>\n
