The win was also a milestone moment, as it marked the 100th career varsity victory for head coach Gene Henderson.

Since taking over Moore’s varsity program during the 2019–20 season, Henderson has built the Mavericks into one of the premier programs in the CHSAA. Over six seasons — one of which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic — he has guided Moore to an impressive 100–35 record.

During that span, the Mavericks have reached the Archdiocesan Championship three times, winning two titles, captured two CHSAA City Championships, claimed one overall City Championship, and earned a CHSAA State Championship.

While the milestone was notable, Henderson emphasized the importance of the performance itself.

“It’s nice to reach the 100-win mark, but more importantly this was a great league win on the road,” he said. “McClancy has been playing very well and was undefeated in league play coming into the game.”

Moore was led by a dominant all-around effort from Mackenzie Felci, who finished with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Felci set the tone on both ends of the floor, controlling the paint and providing consistent scoring when the team needed it most.

“Kenzie has been outstanding so far this season,” Henderson said. “She’s a leader on the floor and just a really complete player.”

The Mavericks also received strong contributions from the rest of the lineup. Emma Bruno-Dunn narrowly missed a double-double with 9 points and 9 rebounds, while Emma Costanzo added 8 points as Moore showcased a balanced offensive attack.

Moore will look to carry its momentum into the holiday break, traveling to Amsterdam, N.Y. to compete in the Amsterdam High School College Showcase on December 27–28, where the Mavericks will face Shaker High School and Cornwall High School.

St. Joseph by-the-Sea 76, Immaculata High School 29

After suffering a non-league loss to Cherokee High School on Saturday afternoon in a neutral-site matchup at Red Bank Catholic in New Jersey, the Vikings responded emphatically on Sunday, bouncing back with a convincing blowout victory over Immaculata at The Fort Athletic Club.

Sea received balanced production across the lineup, led by Olivia DiMonda, who poured in 19 points and was named game MVP. Addison Cunningham provided a major spark off the bench with 14 points, while Giovanna Grima added 11 and Maria O’Connell finished with 10.

Head coach Josh Suslak was pleased with the response following Saturday’s setback. “It was very encouraging to see this group bounce back after a disappointing performance and play a complete game,” the HC said.

“This was a fantastic team win, with everyone contributing in different ways.
