Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., will swear in New York City Mayor-elect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/person\/zohran-mamdani\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Zohran Mamdani<\/a>, his transition office announced.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">James will administer the oath of office to Mamdani at midnight on Jan. 1, while Sanders will swear him in again at the public inauguration later that day.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At a moment when democracy is under attack and cynicism about our politics runs deep, Zohran Mamdani represents a new generation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/politics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">progressive leadership<\/a> rooted in courage, integrity and solidarity,&#8221; Sanders said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;His victory is not just about one city or one election, it is about the strength of a working class movement that says unequivocally: the future of New York belongs to the people, not the billionaire class.
