Ashton Kutcher<\/a> wants to act with no strings attached.<\/p>\n

But the 47-year-old has missed out on projects due to his looks.<\/p>\n

Kutcher dove into his experience in Hollywood during a panel at New York Comic Con for his upcoming FX television show\u00a0\u201cThe Beauty.\u201d <\/p>\n

The October 11 panel was moderated by the series creator\u00a0Ryan Murphy<\/a>. Also on stage were\u00a0Evan Peters,\u00a0Jeremy Pope,\u00a0Rebecca Hall and Anthony Ramos.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Murphy, 59, first asked Kutcher to share his experience playing a \u201chilarious supervillain\u201d in the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think every role you get, part of it is what you look like, right? It\u2019s a very big part of what you\u2019re imbuing as the character,\u201d the Netflix alum mused. \u201cAnd so, there are roles that I\u2019ve gotten because of the way I look and there are roles that I haven\u2019t gotten because of the way I look.\u201d<\/p>\n

Which doesn\u2019t always sit right with Kutcher.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes it\u2019s frustrating,\u201d he added, noting that his polished looks have caused him to be passed over for \u201cdown on your luck\u201d characters.<\/p>\n

However, working as a producer has made Kutcher better understand casting decisions. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re trying to tell a story with pictures, and the pictures need to create a feeling for the audience,\u201d the entrepreneur shared. <\/p>\n

Starring in \u201cThe Beauty\u201d also gave Kutcher a chance to try something new.<\/p>\n

\u201cWithout giving away too much, almost every one of us has an incredibly nuanced role where, in some way, shape or form, we\u2019re playing something that we are or we aren\u2019t at any given time. It creates this underlying ability to embody insecurities that you may have, that you hide away and you push down, and you don\u2019t let anyone in the world see it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shedding light onto his character, Kutcher said, \u201cI think he\u2019s a good guy. I mean, you have to learn early that you can\u2019t ever judge your character, because you have people who are doing things no matter how unfair it is. They think they\u2019re doing the right thing.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThis character looks at it and he goes, \u2018Wait, there\u2019s a lot of judgment around cosmetic aesthetic improvement in the world. A lot of people judge it.\u2019 And gradually over time, people are judging it less,\u201d he elaborated.<\/p>\n

The \u201cJobs\u201d alum also took a moment to praise Murphy for writing such a unique role.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo often today, you only get to play your lane and nothing else, because playing anything else goes against the values that society has projected upon what people should play and shouldn\u2019t play,\u201d he detailed. <\/p>\n

In the FX series \u201cwe get to play these complicated, nuanced characters,\u201d Kutcher said. \u201cIt\u2019s a delight. Playing this character is one of the great delights of my career.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Beauty,\u201d created by Murphy and Matthew Hodgson, is based on the comic book series by the same name. <\/p>\n

Per the synopsis, the show follows \u201cpartners Drew Foster and Kara Vaughn\u201d as they \u201cinvestigate the\u00a0Beauty STD causing aesthetic effects\u00a0but proving lethal, evading corrupt officials and a mercenary.\u201d <\/p>\n

The show will debut on Hulu in 2026, with Kutcher also serving as an executive producer.<\/p>\n

The actor has had a wide range of roles over the years, including playing the beloved Michael Kelso on\u00a0\u201cThat \u201870s Show\u201d for eight seasons from 1998 to 2006. <\/p>\n

Kutcher also joined \u201cTwo and a Half Men\u201d as Walden Schmidt in 2011 until 2015. <\/p>\n

He also starred in the eight-season sitcom \u201cThe Ranch\u201d alongside Danny Masterson, Sam Elliot and Elisha Cuthbert. The show ran from 2016 to 2020.<\/p>\n

Along with hosting the reality television series\u00a0\u201cPunk\u2019d,\u201d Kutcher has lead a slew of rom-coms, including \u201cNew Years Eve,\u201d \u201cYour Place of Mine,\u201d \u201cJust Married,\u201d \u201cA Lot like Love,\u201d \u201cWhat Happens in Vegas\u201d and \u201cNo Strings Attached.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the personal front, Kutcher tied the knot with his \u201cThat \u201970s Show\u201d co-star Mila Kunis in\u00a02015, two years after splitting from ex-wife Demi Moore.<\/p>\n

Kutcher and Kunis, 42, share daughter Wyatt Isabelle, 11, and son Dimitri Portwood, 8. <\/p>\n

For the Hollywood vet, one part in particular will always be his favorite. <\/p>\n
