Nicki Minaj meant it as a compliment. <\/p>\n

But it spectacularly failed given the venue. <\/p>\n

The \u201cSuper Bass\u201d rapper and fan of President Donald Trump was at a Turning Point USA festival on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Minaj was praising conservative leaders while sharing the stage with Erika Kirk, widow of assassinated conservative leader Charlie Kirk. <\/p>\n

\u201cDear young men, you have amazing role models like our handsome, dashing president, and you have amazing role models like the assassin, JD Vance, our vice president,\u201d Minaj said.<\/p>\n

Quickly realizing her faux pas, the \u201cAnaconda\u201d singer then lowered her microphone, looked down and covered her mouth with her hand in a gesture of embarrassment, Reuters reported.<\/a><\/p>\n

Charlie Kirk was killed during a Turning Point USA event in Utah in September. <\/p>\n

Minaj remained silent as awkward laughter came from the audience at the Turning Point event on Sunday, which was being held in Arizona. <\/p>\n

But Erika Kirk quickly came to the singer\u2019s rescue. <\/p>\n

\u201cTrust me, there\u2019s nothing new under the sun that I have not heard, so you\u2019re fine… I love you. You have to laugh about it truly,\u201d Kirk said. \u201cYou say what you want to say, because I know your heart and I will not judge that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shortly after Minaj\u2019s appearance, the White House posted a video clip of her at the Turning Point USA festival where the rapper said: \u201cI have the utmost respect and admiration for our president.\u201d <\/p>\n

Minaj reposted the White House\u2019s post, adding two photos of herself and a comment: \u201cMy darling, you did it. We\u2019re good.
