(WIBW) &#8211; Brooklyn DeLeye and the Kentucky volleyball team fell just short of winning a national title on Sunday in Kansas City. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Texas A&amp;M took down the Wildcats in straight sets. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">For DeLeye, the moment was about more than the final score and instead reflected the dreams that first brought her to the national stage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe little girl that once believed they could be once this stage, I mean we were kind of doing it for that person,\u201d DeLeye said Thursday after Kentucky\u2019s five set win over Wisconsin. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wibw.com\/2025\/12\/21\/kentuckys-brooklyn-deleye-has-played-majority-season-with-torn-meniscus\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wibw.com\/2025\/12\/21\/kentuckys-brooklyn-deleye-has-played-majority-season-with-torn-meniscus\/\">RELATED: Kentucky\u2019s Brooklyn DeLeye has played majority of season with torn meniscus<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">That mindset has helped shape DeLeye\u2019s growing influence on women\u2019s sports, inspiring young girls who see themselves in her journey. Raised by John and Janel DeLeye, she has remained grounded despite her success, consistently making time for fans whether she\u2019s in Lexington or back home in the Kansas City area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThey say they really love her and that\u2019s why they come to the games,\u201d Janel DeLeye told 13 SPORTS of what fans their daughter. The little girls with the T-Shirts. She\u2019s just a good kid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">That same passion defines how DeLeye approaches her team every day, leaving a lasting mark on the program beyond wins and losses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cShe\u2019s about all the people she\u2019s around and she gives her heart and soul to her teammates and the program and couldn\u2019t be more proud of her as a person and an athlete,\u201d Kentucky head coach Craig Skinner said after the loss to Texas A&amp;M Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 WIBW.
