A vehicle struck a pedestrian and a building Monday afternoon in New Rochelle, prompting an emergency response.<\/p>\n
New Rochelle police say the pedestrian, who was not identified, was struck while crossing North Avenue and The Blvd shortly after 3 p.m. <\/p>\n
According to police, after the pedestrian was hit, the vehicle, which appeared to be a taxi, then ran into the building that used to house Moon Diner at 412 North Ave. <\/p>\n
After getting the car safely out of the building, fire crews began to assess the damage and worked to secure it. <\/p>\n
According to police, the pedestrian was taken to the hospital for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. <\/p>\n
The driver of the car claimed to have no injuries, and the passengers sustained minor leg injuries, police say. No charges were filed.<\/p>\n
One resident that spoke with News 12 says it could’ve ended up much worse. <\/p>\n
“This is usually a busy sidewalk.
