STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Senior Armani Perez scored a team-high 19 points and Eagle Academy Staten Island got off to a strong start with a 24-point first quarter as it registered a 66-49 PSAL 3A victory over host Petrides Monday in Sunnyside.<\/p>\n
Juneek Daniels finished with a double-double (17 points, 11 rebounds), Justin Webley (10 points) and Anthony Riley (nine points) also contributed offensively for Eagle, which improved to 4-8 overall (3-5 league).<\/p>\n
Kareem Nesbit and Aiden Gonzalez tallied 21 and 18 points, respectively for the Panthers (2-7, 1-6).<\/p>\n
Daniels scored 10 first-quarter points and Perez, who is averaging 13.5 ppg., added eight as Eagle raced to a 24-13 lead by quarter\u2019s end.<\/p>\n
After Jamal Howard helped give the visitors a 36-21 lead at intermission with five second-quarter markers, Perez (six rebounds) tallied seven in the third as EASI took a comfortable 51-31 lead into the final eight minutes.<\/p>\n
Eagle head coach Justin Spisto said he switched Riley to point guard prior to the Stapleton school\u2019s game against Port Richmond last week and the move has paid dividends.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was an unorthodox move, but it\u2019s been working,\u2019’ said the third-year head coach, noting Riley had four assists on Monday. \u201dWe\u2019ve been playing a stronger game ever since.\u2019’<\/p>\n

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Sergio Batista scored a game-high 17 points and the Centrals jumped to an early double-digit lead en route to the PSAL 3A division victory over the host Dragons in New Springville.<\/p>\n
Omari Onwe added 10 points and James Flores and Josh Carter teamed for another 13 markers as New Dorp improved to 7-4 overall, including 6-1 in league play.<\/p>\n
Danny O\u2019Connor and Xavier Farley tallied eight apiece for CSIM, which dropped to 4-6 overall (3-4 league).<\/p>\n
Batista was red hot out of the gate as he scored 11 first-half points, including his lone three, and Carter added four markers to help the Centrals race to a 23-9 advantage at quarter\u2019s end.<\/p>\n
New Dorp still led 40-28 entering the fourth when it tightened the clamps defensively and rode Onwe\u2019s four points to help provide the final score.<\/p>\n
St. Francis Prep 67, St. Peter\u2019s 38<\/p>\n
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 The Eagles fell into a double-digit hole at halftime and never recovered as they dropped the CHSAA AA decision to the visiting Terriers in New Brighton on Monday.<\/p>\n
Sean Gannon (eight points), AJ Troia (seven points), Nico Parlanti (six points) and Tyler Schoenberg (six points) led the way for St. Peter\u2019s, which fell to 2-5 overall (0-2 league).<\/p>\n
Oesoemana Sacko scored a game-high 26 points for Prep, which improved to 5-2 overall (2-1 CHSAA). <\/p>\n
Parlanti scored four first-quarter points and the Eagles only trailed 14-10 after one period. Ethan Edwards (three treys) and Justin DeSena (eight points) added nine and eight points, respectively, for the Terriers.<\/p>\n
But the 6-foot-7 Sacko scored 12 of his 22 first-half points in the second period to help the Queens school take control. The senior, who buried four treys and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line, helped Prep take a 34-18 lead into the lockers and they cruised the rest of the way.<\/p>\n
Fordham Prep 50, Sea 38<\/p>\n
THE BRONX \u2014 Leading scorer Nick Rebracca finished tied for the game high with 17 points, but the Vikings found themselves in a halftime deficit and never fully recovered as they dropped the CHSAA A division decision to the host Rams.<\/p>\n
Sea had its three-game winning streak snapped as it fell to 6-3 overall, including 5-3 in league play.<\/p>\n
Brian Kapfer (17 points, 5 of 6 free throws) and Liam Farrell (11 points) paced Fordham (4-4 overall, 3-3 league).<\/p>\n
Kapfer and Farrell teamed for 16 first-half markers to give the hosts a 26-17 lead at intermission.<\/p>\n
The Vikings, however, turned in their best quarter of the game in the third. Rebracca scored four points and five others players also scored as Sea trimmed its deficit to 33-30 entering the final eight minutes.<\/p>\n
