An estimated 100,000 protesters turned out to rally against the Trump administration<\/a> during a massive \u201cNo Kings\u201d march through Midtown on Saturday, calling for the president\u2019s despotic policies to come to an abrupt end.<\/p>\n

Gathering in Times Square, protesters carrying signs reading, \u201cNo Kings make the world a better place\u201d and \u201cTrump is a traitor,\u201d lined up for several blocks as they began their way through the heart of Manhattan to Union Square, aerial shots taken in Midtown Saturday show.<\/p>\n

Similar No Kings protests,\u00a0billed as a nationwide \u201cday of defiance\u201d against Trump and his hard-line immigration policies <\/a>were held in each borough and across the country.<\/p>\n

The first No Kings protest, held this past June, coincided with Trump\u2019s birthday and military parade in Washington, D.C.. About 50,000 turned out to protest in New York City.<\/p>\n

Saturday\u2019s protest saw twice that number, city officials said.<\/p>\n

Very little has changed in the last four months, protesters said. They angrily cited the Trump administration\u2019s current war on New York City\u2019s transit system \u2014 just on Thursday, federal regulators demanded the city halt work on Manhattan\u2019s recently revived 34th St. busway<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 continued ICE operations, and the since-abandoned push to strip millions in federal anti-terror funding from the NYPD<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m appalled at what\u2019s going on in this country. I can\u2019t believe it,\u201d said one 73-year-old protester, who identified herself as Lisa. \u201cI feel like I\u2019m living in Nazi Germany, I feel like I\u2019m in a science-fiction movie \u2014 and nobody\u2019s doing anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump is going after immigrants and disenfranchised Americans \u201cjust because,\u201d Lisa said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fact that Congress is letting him do whatever he wants, that\u2019s my biggest issue,\u201d she said. \u201cTrump is Trump. He\u2019s a piece of s\u2014. And with no ethics, morals, whatever. But the fact that the Congress allows him to do this, I think, is what upsets me the most.\u201d<\/p>\n

Upper West Side native Robbi Conal, 81, who held up an oil painting of Trump with the words \u201cDick Tater\u201d on it, said the Trump administration was \u201cdestroying\u201d America.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really about working-class people and regular people and Trump is really for billionaires and all his cronies and the tech bros, and not really serving the American people who are taking the brunt of his corrupt policies,\u201d Conal said.<\/p>\n

While 100 people were arrested at New York City\u2019s first No Kings event in the late spring, the NYPD said no arrests were made Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had more than 100,000 people across all five boroughs peacefully exercising their first amendment rights<\/a> and the NYPD made zero protest-related arrests,\u201d the department said on X.<\/p>\n

Madeline Scheffler, 38, took the train from New Rochelle to Midtown to take part of the No Kings march with her 6-year-old daughter, Eloise.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy are we here, sweetie?\u201d she asked her daughter as she marched through the streets.<\/p>\n

Eloise\u2019s answer was as adorable as it was defiant. \u201cBecause we don\u2019t want kings,\u201d the child said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy daughter should be home coloring or at the playground, but it felt really important to show her that there\u2019s a lot of people who believe in what we believe in,\u201d Scheffler said. \u201cWe think there\u2019s room for everybody in our country and we think families shouldn\u2019t be separated.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople who we elect to lead us should be thinking more about the people than themselves,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd that\u2019s not happening right now at all levels of government.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scheffler said she wanted to inspire her daughter to use her voice to speak out against injustice.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not the child\u2019s first protest, she added, though gazing around at the throngs of people, she said, \u201cThis is by far the largest!\u201d<\/p>\n
