STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 At this point, Staten Island drivers should be familiar with which intersections have red light cameras.<\/p>\n
The Advance\/SILive.com recently analyzed publicly available camera violation records<\/a> on the city\u2019s Open Data page to identify locations of enforcement cameras installed by New York City<\/p>\n The data reflects all red light camera violations that have been issued on Staten Island from Jan. 1 to Nov. 21, 2025, the most up-to-date information available.<\/p>\n These red light cameras are located throughout the city, with over 30 scattered around Staten Island.<\/p>\n The red light camera locations on Staten Island were primarily static over the year, and the list of locations remained mostly unchanged, according to records.<\/p>\n The one noticeable difference was the apparent removal of a red light camera on the northbound section of Father Capodanno Boulevard, near the entrance to the park-and-ride lot. This specific camera did not issue a ticket after July 29, according to the data.<\/p>\n Overall, cameras issued Staten Island drivers a total of 50,808 tickets for blowing through red lights, the data showed. Since these tickets typically carry a $50 fine, Staten Islanders were issued over $2.5 million in fines throughout 2025.<\/p>\n Eight cameras alone issued 26,358 tickets, representing over $1.3 million in summonses, according to city data.<\/p>\n Here are the eight red light cameras on Staten Island that have issued the most violations so far, according to the city\u2019s camera data:<\/p>\n 8. Victory Boulevard & Morani Street<\/p>\n Direction: Eastbound<\/p>\n Summons issued: 3,070<\/p>\n Fines: $153,500<\/p>\n 4. Clove Road & Bard Avenue<\/p>\n Direction: Eastbound<\/p>\n Summons issued: 5,429<\/p>\n Fines: $271,450<\/p>\n Besides the number of red light camera tickets, the New York Police Department has issued over 2,700 tickets in 2025<\/a> for disobeying a traffic control device, a broad term that includes running red lights, among other offenses.<\/p>\n In October 2024, Gov. Kathy Hochul signed legislation to extend New York City\u2019s red light camera program through Dec. 1, 2027<\/a>.<\/p>\n The legislation also allowed the city to add an additional 450 intersections to the red light program.<\/p>\n With this increase, the number of intersections in the five boroughs with red light cameras could balloon from 150 to 600.<\/p>\n
