{"id":80637,"date":"2025-12-25T03:58:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-25T03:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/80637\/"},"modified":"2025-12-25T03:58:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-25T03:58:09","slug":"the-jets-have-one-big-goal-for-brady-cook-as-season-nears-end","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/80637\/","title":{"rendered":"The Jets have one big goal for Brady Cook as season nears end"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The goal for Brady Cook and the Jets offense Sunday and likely for their season finale: \u201cgrowth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That is according to offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand, who is turning to an undrafted rookie quarterback for a fourth straight game and third straight start in a truly lost season.<\/p>\n<p>Cook has shown little growth, throwing one touchdown pass and six interceptions since relieving an injured Tyrod Taylor. <\/p>\n<p>Sunday\u2019s miserable <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/12\/21\/sports\/jets-fall-to-saints-as-coaching-shakeup-makes-no-difference\/#:~:text=Jets%20quarterback%20Brady%20Cook%20(4,Learn%20more\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">loss in New Orleans<\/a> was particularly dreary, Cook unable to get the offense into gear and taking eight sacks in large part because he held on to the ball too long.<\/p>\n<p>The Jets are hoping with more reps comes more awareness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s just continuing to understand what we\u2019re trying to accomplish on every play, which I think he\u2019s actually done a pretty darn good job of, but then also understanding the things we can and can\u2019t do on every single play,\u201d Engstrand said at practice Wednesday ahead of Sunday\u2019s game against the Patriots. \u201cJust for example, say on a third-and-15, we can\u2019t take a sack even if we\u2019re scrambling out of the pocket. We just got to throw the ball away.
