The New York Mets have been at the center of a lot of buzz and attention this offseason. They lost a slew of players in free agency to open the winter, but they’ve slowly added to the roster to make up for it.<\/p>\n

The Mets traded starting second baseman Jeff McNeil to the Athletics, too. This move has come under scrutiny for the Mets, but they could make up for it by swinging another trade.<\/p>\n

Austin Konenski of Sportsnaut suggested the Mets could swing a trade with the New York Yankees<\/a> to acquire All-Star infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. this offseason.<\/p>\n

“The\u00a0New York Mets\u00a0might be an unlikely trade partner, but they could use a second baseman,” Konenski wrote. “The Mets traded starting second baseman\u00a0Jeff McNeil to the Athletics, leaving an opening in a lineup that already lost\u00a0Pete Alonso\u00a0at the MLB Winter Meetings in Orlando. Chisholm would swap New York teams in this scenario, which might not be appealing to the Yankees.”<\/p>\n

This idea fits perfectly for the Mets. Chisholm is an ultra utilityman with the ability to play second base, third base, or the outfield. This flexibility would be massive for the Mets after losing Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo, and McNeil.<\/p>\n

Chisholm would be able to play wherever the Mets need him to, but it would cost quite a bit of prospect capital to poach the star from the Yankees. The Mets could package one of their top pitching prospects with a few other youngsters to acquire Chisholm.<\/p>\n
