The holiday season is about family and keeping traditions alive, and in the Van Nest section of The Bronx, residents are doing just that by stopping at a longtime neighborhood bakery.<\/p>\n
At Conti\u2019s Pastry Shop, customers lined up early to pick up cakes, cookies and other sweet treats for their holiday celebrations.<\/p>\n
Staff members expected hundreds of people to pass through the doors throughout the day.<\/p>\n
The shop was filled with desserts of every kind, from classic cakes and cookies to elaborate holiday displays, including a Christmas tree decorated entirely with cookie ornaments.<\/p>\n
Several customers said Conti\u2019s was just the first stop on a busy day of visiting relatives and delivering desserts.<\/p>\n
Others said coming to the bakery is a tradition they have followed for years and one they could not imagine skipping.<\/p>\n
Conti\u2019s Pastry Shop has been serving the community since the 1920s, and staff members say they enjoy seeing generations of families return year after year. <\/p>\n
