NEW YORK (1010 WINS) \u2014 New York City is under a Winter Storm Warning Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon as the city braces for up to 6 inches of snow, with even more possible across the Tri-State, according to AccuWeather.<\/p>\n

Friday will be cold with early sun quickly giving way to clouds, and a high topping at 29. The Winter Storm Warning goes into effect at 4 p.m. and lasts through 1 p.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n

Snow will arrive late and overnight can accumulate 3 to 6 inches across the city, Long Island and most western suburbs, while 6 to 10 inches is possible in the Hudson Valley, southwest Connecticut and areas in northern New Jersey, AccuWeather said.<\/p>\n

Slow and slippery travel is expected as the low Friday night drops to 25. Saturday may begin with flurries or spotty freezing drizzle, but AccuWeather said that otherwise it will be cloudy, cold and damp with slowly-improving travel conditions as the high hits 33.<\/p>\n

NYC Emergency Management reminded New Yorkers of some indoor and outdoor winter weather tips\u2014like plugging space heaters directly into the wall and wearing warm layered clothing\u2014before stating that it would keep the public updated.<\/p>\n

The National Weather Service predicts snowfall of 5 to 9 inches in the Winter Storm Warning area, and warned of hazardous travel from snow-covered roads and reduced visibilities.<\/p>\n

Mayor Eric Adams said that a Travel Advisory has been issued for New Yorkers due to the storm, and encouraged people who drove to work to leave before 4 p.m., or to take mass transit home. NYC Sanitation crews have been pre-deployed and they have pre-treated roads.<\/p>\n

The snow should turn to rain as the weekend progresses, with a high of 37 on a mostly cloudy Sunday that AccuWeather said will see rain late in the day and at night.<\/p>\n

Monday will be cloudy and warmer with rain at times, and the temperature spiking up to 49, but quickly dropping back to the low 30s on a very windy Tuesday, AccuWeather forecasts.<\/p>\n
