Mayor Adams suggested New Yorkers get hot and bothered by the fire this weekend, after the biggest snowstorm in years <\/a>struck the Big Apple Saturday and gave the city a reason to stay in under the covers.<\/p>\n \u201cStay home. This is a good baby-making day \u2026 As my son would say, just do Netflix and chill \u2014 that\u2019s\u00a0all and just enjoy the day,\u201d Adams said on WABC\u2019s \u201cEyewitness News This Saturday Morning,\u201d<\/a> while talking about the response to what will likely be his last snow storm as mayor.<\/p>\n Mayor Adams said the snowstorm made for a \u201cgood baby-making day.\u201d ABC7NY<\/p>\n Adams then doubled down on the joke when host Pedro Rivera asked if New York would get a \u201cbaby boom\u201d in the spring.<\/p>\n \u201cWe want to improve the population,\u201d Hizzoner joked.<\/p>\n \u201cBut in all seriousness, really hats off to the Department of Sanitation, FDNY, and our other emergency response [teams] \u2026 Because we were expecting 11 inches<\/a> and\u00a0really\u00a0we got about four inches and by 6 a.m., all of\u00a0our streets had at least one pass from our plows.\u00a0So,\u00a0a really\u00a0great job.\u201d<\/p>\n Adams appeared on the morning show to caution New Yorkers and tourists alike about the icy conditions that are likely to accompany the overnight dumping, which has been paired with below-freezing temperatures. <\/p>\n About 4 inches of snow was dumped across the five boroughs. Gaston for NY Post<\/p>\n Later in the evening, the Mayor responded to a New York Post report on his \u201cbaby-making\u201d comments by quipping on X: <\/a>\u201cNo lies detected.\u201d<\/p>\n New Yorkers woke up Saturday morning to a roughly 4-inch blanket, a far cry from the nearly 11-inch pummeling city officials had warned was incoming.<\/p>\n The snowstorm was slowed down after running into dense, cold air, dramatically reducing the amount of forecasted precipitation. <\/p>\n
