Community members in Belmont braved the start of the snowstorm on Friday.<\/p>\n
As neighbors made their way up and down Arthur Avenue, some visitors were enjoying the snow covering the streets.<\/p>\n
“We’re from Denver, but there’s no snow over there right now, so it’s been like the driest, non-snowiest winter ever. So like this is pretty nice,” said Ben Welch.<\/p>\n
For neighbors like Pramitivo Cuautle, it was a reminder of his favorite winters in The Bronx.<\/p>\n
“It brings me so much happiness because it reminds me of the snowstorms when I first came here in 1995. I miss those days,” he said.<\/p>\n
Christina Farrell, the first deputy commissioner at the New York City Emergency Management Department, said the snowstorm could be one to remember.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt seems like we\u2019re gearing up if the forecast holds for one of the largest snowfalls in recent memory. But we\u2019re prepared,” she said. <\/p>\n
But other neighbors said they’re not worried.<\/p>\n
“We’re New Yorkers. Like that’s nothing to us. I’m excited,” said Monique Obeze. <\/p>\n
