An 83-year-old woman and a 26-year-old woman were also transported to Jacobi in stable condition.<\/p>\n
Saturday, Kashmir\u2019s mother, Keyion Gonzales-Marquis, stood before the newly unveiled street sign, reflecting on the son she lost and the future he never had the chance to see.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was at work when this happened,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s not like I was out partying or doing anything reckless. I was paving the way for my baby.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gonzales-Marquis said the pain of losing her only child is something she will carry forever.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe knew that mommy loved him. And I know that my son loved me,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She described Kashmir as a joyful, music-loving child with a bright personality and an ever-present smile.<\/p>\n
\u201cKashmir never cried. He was always smiling, and he loved music,\u201d she said. \u201cHe was the sweetest being.\u201d<\/p>\n
Though his life was cut short, Gonzales-Marquis said her son\u2019s spirit continues to inspire her.<\/p>\n
\u201cI continue to just push and live every single day. I would not want it any other way but Kashmir\u2019s way.\u201d<\/p>\n
