That means snow totals can vary significantly over just a few miles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"3J244HTX6FACBH4HMFB3WIDOEM\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.syracuse.com\/weather\/2025\/12\/how-much-snow-could-you-get-through-new-years-eve-in-upstate-ny-snowstorm.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.syracuse.com\/weather\/2025\/12\/how-much-snow-could-you-get-through-new-years-eve-in-upstate-ny-snowstorm.html\">How much snow could you get through New Year\u2019s Eve in Upstate NY snowstorm?<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ZB3PBPIHRNGT3MFZHHFR62EGRU\">\u201cA heavy band is expected for Onondaga, Madison, and Oneida counties from mid morning through this evening, and 1 to 2 feet of snow will be possible,\u201d the National Weather Service said early this morning. \u201cNear-blizzard conditions can be expected at times today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"RWUA2K3465BATE7BPETRMSXAJE\">Winter storm warnings, the highest level of alert, remain in effect through Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"J6JZDZVPTNFHPJZ63KF4HUGAKI\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.syracuse.com\/weather\/2025\/12\/onondaga-county-issues-travel-advisory-ahead-of-lake-effect-snowstorm.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.syracuse.com\/weather\/2025\/12\/onondaga-county-issues-travel-advisory-ahead-of-lake-effect-snowstorm.html\">A travel advisory<\/a> is in effect for Madison and Onondaga counties. Onondaga County offices will be closed today except for emergency services.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"6YTF6Z4B65AL7ITPBIR2QRNZHU\">The peak wind gust reported Monday in Syracuse was 52 mph. The winds won\u2019t be that extreme today, topping out at about 35 mph, but still strong enough to blow around the fluffy snow and cause slippery roads and poor visibility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"LYO2FWFSH5GTNNUMWV5JFWR3QE\">Winds should taper off overnight.
