Schlossberg heartbreakingly wrote<\/a>\u00a0in the essay, published on Nov. 22 \u2013 the 62nd anniversary of her grandfather\u2019s 1963 assassination.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\nIn January, she joined a clinical trial of CART-cell therapy, a type of immunotherapy against certain blood cancers, but was tragically given the terminal prognosis.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In her article, Schlossberg agonizingly described the prospect of her children \u2014\u00a0Edwin, 3, and a 19-month-old daughter \u2014\u00a0growing up without memories of her.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cMy first thought was that my kids, whose faces live permanently on the inside of my eyelids, wouldn\u2019t remember me. My son might have a few memories, but he\u2019ll probably start confusing them with pictures he sees or stories he hears,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t even really get to take care of my daughter \u2013 I couldn\u2019t change her diaper or give her a bath or feed her.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Schlossberg leaves behind her husband, George Moran, their two kids, and her parents, Carolina Kennedy, 67, and Edwin Schlossberg, 80.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She is also survived by her older sister Rose, 37, and younger brother, Jack, 32, who is running for Congress in the 12th Congressional District being vacated by Manhattan Rep. Jerold Nadler.<\/p>\n

Schlossberg described how doctors discovered the cancer just hours after she gave birth to her second child in May 2024.\u00a0She spent the past 18 months in treatment, receiving a bone-marrow transplant, chemotherapy and blood transfusions.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The rare mutation that Schlossberg was diagnosed with \u2013 Inversation 3 \u2013 is generally seen in older patients.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Schlossberg, who graduated from Yale and has a Master\u2019s degree from Oxford, previously worked as a journalist at The New York Times and published her first book in 2019.<\/p>\n

She has been married to urologist George Moran, whom she met as an undergrad at Yale, since 2017.<\/p>\n
Schlossberg wrote that her immediate family was helping her raise her two young children amid her treatment, and described the heartbreak of adding further tragedy to her mother\u2019s already turbulent life.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cFor my whole life, I have tried to be good, to be a good student and a good sister and a good daughter, and to protect my mother and never make her upset or angry,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow I have added a new tragedy to her life, to our family\u2019s life, and there\u2019s nothing I can do to stop it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Caroline Kennedy\u2019s uncle, Robert F. Kennedy, was assassinated in 1968, less than five years after her father\u2019s death.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Her mother, Jackie Kennedy Onassis, died in 1994 at the age of 64 following a short battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which spread to her spinal cord, brain, and liver.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Caroline\u2019s younger brother, John F. Kennedy, Jr., died in 1999 at age 38 in a plane crash that also killed her sister-in-law, Carolina Bessette Kennedy, 33.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Schlossberg is the second of Caroline Kennedy and Edwin Schlossberg\u2019s three children.<\/p>\n
