{"id":85723,"date":"2025-12-31T17:56:14","date_gmt":"2025-12-31T17:56:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/85723\/"},"modified":"2025-12-31T17:56:14","modified_gmt":"2025-12-31T17:56:14","slug":"young-kings-and-queens-chess-club-hosts-workshop-at-albert-tuitt-sr-library-bronx-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/85723\/","title":{"rendered":"Young Kings and Queens Chess Club hosts workshop at Albert Tuitt Sr. library \u2013 Bronx Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<img width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/IMG_4072.jpg\" class=\"crop-center wp-post-image\" alt=\"workshop\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"  \/>\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Several students from Baychester Middle School and the Academy for Scholarship and Entrepreneurship took part in a chess workshop held by the Young Kings and Queens Chess Club.<\/p>\n<p>Photo by Jewel Webber<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\t&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/ykingsnqueenscc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Young Kings and Queens Chess Club<\/a> hosted a chess workshop for kids from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baychesterwaves.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Baychester Middle School<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asehs.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Academy for Scholarship and Entrepreneurship<\/a> on Friday, Dec. 19, at the Albert Tuitt Sr. Educational Campus Library, located at 921 E. 228th St.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-138401\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/IMG_4042.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\"  \/>Photo by Jewel Webber<\/p>\n<p>Participants of this workshop learned about chess and some strategies from Young Kings and Queens Chess Club Founder and President Romeo Davis before having friendly matches with one another.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-138404\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/IMG_4182.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\"  \/>Photo by Jewel Webber<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany students competed for many goals. Goals included confidence, self-esteem, networking, building new relationships in the community, understanding what is expected on the next level and mentorship,\u201d Davis said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey also got the opportunity to test their skills on a different platform. Giving these students positive exposure can go a long way concerning their growth and development.
