While the new year brings new beginnings, it also brings a close to old chapters.<\/p>\n

The last day of operations for Long Island\u2019s last Houlihan\u2019s Restaurant and Bar in Farmingdale will be Wednesday, according to Scott Marshall, chief operating officer of Texas-based Landry\u2019s Inc., which owns other restaurants, hospitality and entertainment brands, including Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Rainforest Cafe and Morton’s The Steakhouse.<\/p>\n

“After many great years of serving the Farmingdale community, Houlihan\u2019s at 923 Broadhollow Road will close its doors following the termination of its lease,” Marshall said in a emailed statement to Newsday. “We appreciate our dedicated staff and are actively working to relocate them and encourage guests to visit us at our many nearby sister properties in the area.”<\/p>\n

Houlihan\u2019s occupied the Broadhollow Road space\u00a0since 2007.\u00a0The restaurant’s parent company filed for bankruptcy in\u00a02019<\/a>\u00a0and was\u00a0purchased by Landry\u2019s Inc. A Westbury location closed in 2020, Newsday previously reported.<\/a><\/p>\n

Raising Cane\u2019s is proposing to take over the space and create a 4,054-square-foot restaurant with 72 indoor and 15 outdoor seats and\u00a0a drive-through to\u00a0accommodate up to 21 vehicles,\u00a0Newsday previously reported.<\/a><\/p>\n

For Long Islanders willing to travel to taste Houlihan\u2019s American-style cuisine again, the nearest locations are\u00a0in New Jersey.<\/p>\n
