It didn\u2019t take long for Trevon Diggs to find another team after the All-Pro cornerback was released by the Cowboys<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The Packers claimed Diggs off waivers on Wednesday, according to multiple reports, to allow the 27-year-old to have a chance at a postseason run \u2014 with the Packers\u2019 spot in the tournament already clinched heading into Week 18.<\/p>\n

Diggs, a two-time Pro Bowler, was cut by Dallas after a reported spat with head coach Brian Schottenheimer over Christmas flight plans<\/a> following their Dec. 25 win over the Commanders.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was one of many factors, it was not the only factor,\u201d Schottenheimer told reporters of the situation Wednesday<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m not the Grinch that stole Christmas. I love Christmas, I love my family. But at the end of the day, we have a protocol that we go through and the process was not followed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Diggs wanted to stay with family in the Maryland area and requested extra time with family following the game, while the Cowboys wanted him to fly back with the team, according to multiple reports.<\/p>\n

And while it was a \u201cculmination of factors\u201d in performance and \u201cother elements\u201d that led to Diggs\u2019 release, according to Schottenheimer, the ugly spat appeared to be the final wrinkle.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst time I heard about it, Trevon grabbed me after the game,\u201d Schottenheimer said Wednesday, according to the team website. \u201cI\u2019m celebrating a big win, and I explained to him the protocol, which has always been the protocol, we go up as a team, we come back as a team. And he decided to make a decision. I\u2019ll say this: It was not the only reason that this decision was made.\u201d<\/p>\n

Diggs inked a five-year, $97 million extension with the team ahead of the 2023 campaign but has dealt with injuries since, appearing in just two in 2023, 11 in 2024 and eight this season.<\/p>\n

After snagging an NFL-best 11 interceptions in 2021, Diggs has just six since, though now he\u2019ll likely get a fresh start in the postseason with a Packers defense that\u2019s needing to adjust without superstar edge rusher Micah Parsons \u2014 who suffered a season-ending ACL tear<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Packers are locked into the NFC\u2019s seventh seed and will play the Bears or Eagles in the first round. <\/p>\n

Parsons, who played with Diggs in Dallas before getting dealt to the Packers ahead of the season in a stunning blockbuster, posted<\/a>, \u201cWe\u2019re back\u201d with a saluting emoji on X after the transaction was reported.<\/p>\n

Diggs\u2019 older brother, Stefon Diggs, has also been involved in a recent controversy, with the Patriots receiver being accused of allegedly slapping and choking a female employee<\/a> at his home over a money dispute earlier this month,<\/p>\n
