The family of a Queens mom charged with killing her 15-month-old son is still struggling to understand how the doting mom could have carried out such a monstrous crime<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Nicole Boodhai, 28, seemed happily engaged to the baby\u2019s dad and fussed over little Charlie Ramraykha \u2014 even showing him off to relatives in Guyana in September \u2014 and chatted on the phone about buying gifts for youngsters in the family just days earlier, the father\u2019s cousin, Trish Emmandranauth, told The Post.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Boodhai was found with her wrists slashed<\/a> beside the slain body of her little boy, cops said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s hit hard, especially for my three kids,\u201d Emmendranauth said. \u201cMy kids have so many questions right now. They\u2019re with their father and they\u2019re texting me, they\u2019re reading the news, and they\u2019re young. They\u2019re seven, eight and 10,. So, they have so many questions that I don\u2019t know how to answer.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said Charlie\u2019s father, Vishnudat Ramraykha, is devastated by his son\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was his life,\u201d the cousin said. \u201cCharlie was his life right there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cops responding to Ramraykha\u2019s home on 157th Street about 1:30 p.m. on Monday found Charlie unresponsive and Boodhai with her wrists slashed, according to police. <\/p>\n

Both were rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where the boy was pronounced dead. The mom was soon charged in his killing.<\/p>\n

The Post revealed this week that Boodhai called Ramraykha and admitted what she had done before police arrived at the house, according to law enforcement sources. <\/p>\n

According to sources, police responded to two domestic incident calls involving the couple, one in May at Ramraykha\u2019s home and another in September of last year at Boodhai\u2019s address. <\/p>\n

Details of what prompted the calls \u2014 or who placed it \u2014 were not available. <\/p>\n

However, Emmendranauth said Charlie was the joy of the family, \u201cnothing but smiles and playfulness,\u201d and said her cousin and Boodhai seemed happy when they all hung out together.<\/p>\n

Just before Christmas, Boodhai chatted about what presents to buy Emmendranauth\u2019s kids.<\/p>\n

\u201cI spoke to Nicole right before the holidays,\u201d she said. \u201cShe would always call me and be like, \u2018Hey, what size are your kids\u2019 clothes?\u2019 or \u2018What are your kids interested in for Christmas?\u2019 She was at the mall and she called me, and I told her, \u2018My kids have everything. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey don\u2019t need anything. But they love going to the movies. So she\u2019s like, \u2018OK, I\u2019ll look for something in that area, maybe theme park tickets or something.\u2019\u00a0 We spoke for about 30 minutes that day.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said her cousin and Boodhai had been together about five years, and got engaged in 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe did a beautiful proposal to her,\u201d she said. \u201cThey both do a lot for each other. They did a really big baby shower as well for Charlie, and that was last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to know what triggered her to do this,\u201d she added. \u201cShe\u2019s the type of mother who would be very concerned if he\u2019s walking or he just stumbled over a little bit.
