Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens is one of the most frequently flooded parks in the city, and is\u00a0very common after a rainfall.<\/p>\n
The Waterfront Alliance points out that, as climate change worsens, the park will be flooded more frequently \u2014 from high tide, rising groundwater and more frequent and intense precipitation.<\/p>\n
The alliance is a nonprofit civic organization in the city that advocates for revitalizing, protecting and making the region’s waterfronts accessible to all communities.<\/p>\n
It has come up with a plan to prevent future flooding in the park\u00a0and to make it more storm resilient.<\/p>\n
Joseph Sutkowi, the chief waterfront design officer at the Waterfront Alliance, joined anchor Rocco Vertuccio on “Weekends on 1.”<\/p>\n
