I\u2019m so cold. I already know in my mind that I will go after 12 and that it will work\u2026 I\u2019m not drinking anything, just tiny sips,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>With temperatures dipping below 30 degrees on Wednesday evening with a chance for up to an inch of snow, many dedicated partiers wore quadruple layers to beat the cold \u2014 on top of the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/12\/31\/us-news\/two-reasons-why-you-should-avoid-times-squares-insanely-crowded-expensive-ball-drop-for-nye\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Depends adult diapers peddlers <\/a>were selling for $50 a pop. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have four layers on, two of them are thermal,\u201d explained Estevez. <\/p>\n<p>And for others like Yecemia Sanchez, 51, from West Bloomfield, Mich., the ball drop wasn\u2019t the only cause for celebration.<\/p>\n<p>A couple embraces during New Year\u2019s Eve celebrations on January 01, 2026 in New York City. Niyi Fote\/TheNEWS2 via ZUMA \/ SplashNews.com<\/p>\n<p>Sanchez told The Post that she\u2019s planning on proposing to her boyfriend, 57-year-old Tony Murry, at midnight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was just getting my post op yesterday, so [Murry] is like, \u2018We\u2019re still gonna go? You just came out of the hospital.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Yes, we\u2019re still gonna go\u2019,\u201d said Sanchez, who\u2019s recovering after taking a spill on a patch of ice outside her home. <\/p>\n<p>Sanchez said she and Murry have known each other for 17 years, but separated for 11 years and recently reconnected two years ago. One of the first promises Murry made her when they started dating the first time around was to see the ball drop in person.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe he\u2019s been promising, promising, and I said, you know, you did make me a promise. REUTERS<\/p>\n<p>Others, like 24-year-old Mackenzie Pappas and 31-year-old David Brandon of Staten Island, started staking out their spots around 2:30 p.m. and bundled up in two pairs of pants, three shirts, a sweater, and a heated jacket. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m cold, but I can tolerate it,\u201d Pappas boasted, noting that she wouldn\u2019t dare miss the ball drop ahead of America\u2019s 250th anniversary. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf it snows, we\u2019re still coming, no matter what. No matter what. It\u2019s the 250th birthday!\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Neshia Clark, a 32-year-old engineer from \u201csunny California,\u201d said she didn\u2019t even consider canceling her plans even as the temperatures plummeted. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, it\u2019s New York. AP<\/p>\n<p>Renata Stauffer, a 39-year-old tourist from Brazil, wasn\u2019t quite as confident in her family\u2019s ability to withstand the elements. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy feet are numb. My toes are so cold. My fingers are frozen like ice, like ice! My husband is out there. I\u2019ll try to go back now to meet him. I\u2019ll try. But maybe we won\u2019t survive. Maybe we will leave.
