WASHINGTON \u2014 President Trump <\/a>finds something about Republican New York City mayoral contender Curtis Sliwa<\/a> to be purr-posterous.<\/p>\n

The president recoiled at the prospect of the cat lover bringing his clowder of felines into Gracie Mansion, as he said he hadn\u2019t decided whether to get involved in the race yet.<\/p>\n

\u201cIs he really a Republican? Am I a big fan?\u201d Trump mused during a pre-taped interview with Fox News\u2019 \u201cSunday Morning Futures.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis isn\u2019t exactly ideal, where he wants to make Gracie Mansion a home for the cats,\u201d Trump continued. \u201cGracie Mansion is the magnificent home of Fiorello La Guardia and the great mayors, [like] Rudy Giuliani.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump and Sliwa haven\u2019t spoken in over a decade<\/a>, though the long-shot mayoral aspirant has made clear he would try to thaw out his icy rapport with the president amid their \u201clove-hate relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pair appears to have last spoken on Dec. 24, 2013, when Sliwa had Trump on his radio program.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnyone who watched the debate saw that I praised President Trump for what he got right while making clear that I will always put New Yorkers first,\u201d Sliwa told The Post in response to Trump\u2019s dig at him.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs for the cats, I\u2019m proud of the lifesaving work my wife Nancy and rescuers across New York do every day to protect animals in distress.\u201d<\/p>\n

Three weeks out from the Nov. 4 election, Trump revealed that he is still laboring over whether he will make an endorsement, dismayed at the options.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know that I\u2019m going to get involved,\u201d the president said. \u201cI\u2019ll make a decision soon.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to be endorsing Democrats as an example. That\u2019s not my thing. But would you rather endorse a Democrat than a communist? Barely. Because they\u2019re almost the same thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump also took aim at Democratic mayoral hopeful Zohram Mamdani, describing him as \u201cpretty slick.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut he doesn\u2019t have what it takes,\u201d he added. \u201cThe city will be in big trouble.\u201d<\/p>\n

The president has long hinted that he views former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) as the most viable chance to defeat Mamdani, who is the undisputed frontrunner in polling. <\/p>\n

But Trump has stopped short of endorsing Cuomo, given their acrimonious history.<\/p>\n

Cuomo\u2019s allies and even some Republicans have urged Sliwa to drop out of the race and clear the lane for the former New York governor in hopes of giving him the best shot at defeating Mamdani. <\/p>\n

\u201cNow [Cuomo\u2019s] saying, `I can\u2019t win without Sliwa votes.\u2019 Where are your votes?!\u201d Sliwa told YouTube\u2019s \u201cThe Nate Friedman Show,\u201d when pressed about concerns that he is being a spoiler candidate.<\/p>\n
