Other shoppers familiar with the store expressed shock at the price of the beef \u2014 and suggested it might even be cheaper to go out to a nice dinner.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor that price I\u2019m going to longhorn and have someone cook it for me too,\u201d one user wrote, referring to the Longhorn Steakhouse chain.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2019You can get a full ribeye or tenderloin dinner with table bread, 2 sides and softdrinks in Florida at a Outback, texas roadhouse or Longhorn for $26 \u2013 $31,\u201d another pointed out.<\/p>\n
But the Redditor made have gotten a deal, as Publix\u2019s website was selling<\/a> a similar GreenWise brand prime cut of organic tenderloin for more than $70 per pound.<\/p>\n Even a New York City butcher shop in Manhattan\u2019s popular Chelsea Market, Dickson\u2019s Farmstand Meats, was selling the cut for slightly less on New Year\u2019s Day at $45.59 per pound.<\/p>\n Meanwhile at ShopRite, a prime beef tenderloin can be found<\/a> for just $35.99 per pound \u2014 although it\u2019s not organic.<\/p>\n But it\u2019s not just the meat \u2014- others customers lamented that the cost of a jar of mayonnaise has jumped to $10 and nuts for as much as $20.<\/p>\n The prices apparently have gotten so outrageous that others have started shopping at other grocery stores.<\/p>\n \u201c\u2019Ingles or even Kroger has better selection,\u201d a commenter wrote. \u201cWhole Foods has a good butcher shop.
