Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Mamdani described<\/a> Sanders as \u201cthe man whose leadership I seek most to emulate.\u201d<\/p>\n Sanders then spoke to the crowd, demanding that \u201cthe wealthy and large corporations start paying their fair share of taxes,\u201d before leading the audience in a chant of, \u201cTax the rich!\u201d<\/p>\n Mamdani \u2013 the city\u2019s first Muslim mayor \u2013 was sworn into office using a Quran, prompting Sen.
