Donald Trump<\/a> is in \u201cPERFECT HEALTH,\u201d and he\u2019s \u201cACED\u201d more \u201cCognitive Examinations\u201d than anyone to ever occupy the White House. We know this because Trump himself announced<\/a> it on January 2, and you can believe everything you read on the president\u2019s Truth Social account:<\/p>\n Trump never needs much of a reason to brag about the results of his latest cognitive test (which is actually a dementia screening<\/a>). But he may have been trying to reassure the public after telling<\/a> The Wall Street Journal that he\u2019s making some medical decisions that go against his doctors\u2019 advice.<\/p>\n Despite gleefully attacking Joe Biden<\/a> for his decrepitude, Trump has been sensitive<\/a> about recent reports that say he\u2019s showing physical signs of aging. So it seems he tried to personally shut down the chatter about his medical issues by talking with the Journal:<\/p>\n In an impromptu phone interview that came after the Journal shared details about its reporting with the White House, the president expressed irritation about the public debate over his health. He has grown upset with his own White House staff for not promoting him as more vigorous. \u201cLet\u2019s talk about health again for the 25th time,\u201d he said at the start of the interview. \u201cMy health is perfect,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n In his most extensive remarks about his health since returning to office, Trump admitted that while he told reporters he had a \u201cpreventative\u201d MRI in October<\/a>, it was actually a CT scan. (Dr. Sean Barbabella, the White House physician, said the CT scan was done \u201cto definitively rule out any cardiovascular issues\u201d and revealed no abnormalities, but he didn\u2019t elaborate on why that was a concern.)<\/p>\n Trump said he briefly wore compression socks to treat his chronic venous insufficiency, but stopped because \u201cI didn\u2019t like them.\u201d He said he\u2019s improved his lower-leg swelling by simply walking around a bit. However, he\u2019s still no fan of any exercise other than golf.<\/p>\n \u201cI just don\u2019t like it. It\u2019s boring,\u201d Trump said. \u201cTo walk on a treadmill or run on a treadmill for hours and hours like some people do, that\u2019s not for me.\u201d<\/p>\n Trump also admitted that he\u2019s \u201cnever been a big sleeper\u201d but denied that he\u2019s been caught sleeping<\/a> at multiple public events.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll just close. It\u2019s very relaxing to me,\u201d he said. \u201cSometimes they\u2019ll take a picture of me blinking, blinking, and they\u2019ll catch me with the blink.\u201d<\/p>\n The president\u2019s most surprising admissions were about the cause of his persistent right-hand bruise<\/a>, which he tends to cover up \u2014 poorly. \u201cI have makeup that\u2019s, you know, easy to put on, takes about ten seconds,\u201d Trump said, acknowledging for the first time that he\u2019s experimenting with hand cosmetics<\/a>.<\/p>\n We\u2019ve long known that Trump takes a daily aspirin as part of a cardiovascular prevention regimen, which is common for older people and makes you bruise easily. What we did not know is that Trump is taking a very large dose of daily aspirin \u2014 325 milligrams a day rather than the typical low dose of 81 milligrams per day \u2014 though his doctors have advised him not to.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019d rather have me take the smaller one,\u201d Trump said. \u201cI take the larger one, but I\u2019ve done it for years, and what it does do is it causes bruising.\u201d<\/p>\n The president said he\u2019s doing this because he\u2019s \u201csuperstitious\u201d and worries about having \u201cthick blood\u201d:<\/p>\n The large dose of aspirin he chooses to take daily has caused him to bruise easily, he said, and he has been encouraged by his doctors to take a lower dose. But Trump has declined to switch because he has been taking it for 25 years. \u201cI\u2019m a little superstitious,\u201d he said in the interview.<\/p>\n \u201cThey say aspirin is good for thinning out the blood, and I don\u2019t want thick blood pouring through my heart,\u201d Trump said. \u201cI want nice, thin blood pouring through my heart. Does that make sense?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Could taking a large dose of daily aspirin be medically justified? Yes, according to<\/a> the University of Rochester Medical Center:<\/p>\n For people at greatest risk for heart attack, doctors typically recommend one regular-strength aspirin tablet (325 mg) a day. For those at lower risk for heart disease, most doctors suggest a daily dose of baby aspirin (81 mg), believing that this dose offers the best balance between the preventive benefits of aspirin and the risk of bleeding, which is its most common \u2014 and most serious \u2014 side effect.<\/p>\n But by Trump\u2019s own admission, his doctors don\u2019t want him on such a high daily dose. Dr. Jonathan Reiner, Dick Cheney\u2019s former heart doctor, told CNN that Trump\u2019s concern about \u201cthick blood\u201d simply \u201cmakes no sense.\u201d Per<\/a> the Daily Beast:<\/p>\n Reiner explained that using aspirin to thin blood is \u201cnot like changing something from gumbo to chicken soup.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt doesn\u2019t make it thinner. It makes you less likely to clot,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u2026 \u201cWhy is the president taking an unorthodox dose of aspirin?\u201d Reiner asked. \u201cAnd the media has published many photos of his right hand \u2014 and now maybe his left hand \u2014 with this chronic bruise. The White House has said that this is related to chronic aspirin therapy. So if you\u2019re bruising a lot and your doctor says you\u2019re on too much aspirin, why wouldn\u2019t you go down to the lower dose?
