CITYWIDE \u2013 NEW MAYOR ZOHRAN Mamdani chose to make housing affordability, a key plank of his campaign, the focus of his first day in office on Thursday, reports ABC News 7<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mamdani signed three executive orders related to housing: one reviving the Mayor\u2019s Office to Protect Tenants, which will be led by tenant advocate Cea Weaver; and two establishing task forces to identify city-owned land that\u2019s ripe for development and to cut unnecessary development-related regulations. The mayor also stated his intention to intervene in the ongoing bankruptcy case of Pinnacle Realty, an accused negligent landlord, on behalf of tenants.<\/p>\n

Mamdani made the announcements at 85 Clarkson Ave. in Brooklyn, a Pinnacle-owned building where residents are organizing a rent strike.\u00a0<\/p>\n
