Victor Davis Hanson warned Americans to not be fooled by Zohran Mamdani\u2019s charming smile<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hanson joined Mark Levin on Fox News\u2019 \u201cLife, Liberty, & Levin\u201d<\/a> Saturday night and broke down three main factors contributing to the leading mayoral candidate for New York City\u2019s popularity.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he feels that he\u2019s a creature of an off year, low turnout election in New York,\u201d Hanson said. \u201cNumber two: The demography of New York has changed<\/a> when people fled it after COVID. And then he\u2019s going to run on this Obama-like charismatic smile.\u201d<\/p>\n

There\u2019s \u201ca million or a million and a half less conservative voters\u201d after COVID, Hanson explained. And then with his charming front, Mamdani appears like \u201che is not going to be dangerous\u201d because he \u201cdoesn\u2019t scream and yell like Elizabeth Warren<\/a>\u201d does, for example.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat fools a lot of people,\u201d Hanson said. \u201cHe appeals to the upper, upper middle class who feel that their intellectual abilities or their degrees entitle them to a certain lifestyle, and they don\u2019t have it in New York.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hanson added that he doesn\u2019t think Mamdani\u2019s supporters \u201cexpect what he\u2019ll do.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re really talking about the upper, upper middle class in a low turnout election with a divided ticket with Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa, and he [Mamdani] thinks he can sneak in, and I think he\u2019s right,\u201d Hanson predicted.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There could have been a united front against Mamdani, however, \u201cwith a center-right candidate,\u201d Hanson said. Candidates like former New York City Mayors Mike Bloomberg, or better yet, like Rudy Giuliani, \u201cwould\u2019ve won \u2026 but they didn\u2019t have that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe [Mamdani] smiles a lot, and he lies,\u201d Hanson said. \u201cHe wants to disarm everybody in New York. He wants to outlaw guns, but he doesn\u2019t want to disarm Hamas<\/a>. It makes no sense, but it does make sense if he\u2019s a radical Marxist, which he is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mamdani is actually a very \u201cprivileged\u201d person who \u201cgrew up with advantages\u201d because his parents are a \u201cmultimillionaire professor [and a] filmmaker,\u201d Hanson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe seems to hate the very system that empowered his entire family,\u201d Hanson said. \u201cHe\u2019s a very dangerous person because he is charismatic.\u201d<\/p>\n
