The Yankees are taking another flier on a veteran to bolster their infield depth.<\/p>\n

Paul DeJong has agreed to a minor league deal with the Yankees that includes an invite to major league spring training, The Post\u2019s Jon Heyman reported on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old DeJong spent the best seasons of his career with the Cardinals from 2017-2023 before bouncing around the last few, including spending 2025 with the Nationals and posting a .642 OPS in 57 games. <\/p>\n

The right-handed hitter, who belted 24 home runs in 139 games in 2024, is a natural shortstop but has also gotten starts at third base, second base and first base over the last two years.<\/p>\n

Having DeJong in camp will give the Yankees another versatile option to potentially compete for a bench job, with utilityman Jos\u00e9 Caballero expected to be starting at shortstop plenty over the first month-plus of the season until Anthony Volpe returns from left shoulder surgery.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Yankees have also brought back Amed Rosario<\/a>, who provides important infield flexibility and a righty bat, on a $2.5 million deal, while utilityman Oswaldo Cabrera is expected to be a full go after fracturing his ankle last May.<\/p>\n

The low-risk signing of DeJong comes as the Yankees are still trying to accomplish their top priority of the offseason, re-signing Cody Bellinger. <\/p>\n
