ELIZABETH, New Jersey (WABC) — A vehicle crashed into Elizabeth High School on Monday morning.<\/p>\n

It happened at Bridge and Pearl Streets in Elizabeth around 8:28 a.m.<\/p>\n

Elizabeth police say they first spotted the silver car driving erratically on Bridge Street, running a red light at Pearl Street, driving over the curb and sidewalk, before hitting an exterior wall of the Dwyer auditorium of Elizabeth High School.<\/p>\n

Students returned from winter break back to the school to resume classes Monday.<\/p>\n

Police said, “One student has reported a minor leg injury and will be transported to Beth Israel Hospital for evaluation as a precaution. The driver sustained apparent minor injuries and was taken to University Hospital for treatment.”<\/p>\n

The crash remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
