A video of doors “frozen open” on an Amtrak<\/a> train traveling from New York to Massachusetts amid a winter storm<\/a> has gone viral on social media.<\/p>\n

The moment was captured in a TikTok<\/a> video shared by @litlpapaya<\/a> and has had over 949,000 views since it was posted on December 27. Text overlaid on the clip says: “POV [point of view]: The doors frozen open on your amtrak from NYC to boston during a winter storm.”<\/p>\n

The clip shows the frosty interior of a train carriage, with a pile of snow at the bottom of the open doors of the Amtrak train. The caption of the post simply reads: “Survival mode on the literal polar express.”<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Amtrak told Newsweek that, on December 27, “Train 163 reported that they had door issues on the fifth and seventh cars. Crews were able to resolve the issue, and there was only a six-minute delay.”<\/p>\n

Cold temperatures continue across the country, including the New England region, with a Winter Weather Advisory in place in parts of New York, Maine, and New Hampshire, as well as in Boston and its surrounding areas, according to the National Weather Service<\/a> (NWS). \u00a0<\/p>\n

“Another round of wintry precipitation will spread from the Great Lakes to New England Tuesday,” the NWS said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Freezing rain is expected to continue east from the Upper Great Lakes region into parts of upstate New York and the central New England\/coastal Maine area. Snow showers are also forecast across parts of upstate New York into the interior New England area, “with the highest accumulations expected for the mountains of interior New England,” the NWS added.<\/p>\n

‘Nightmare’<\/p>\n

Several TikTok users could relate to the train passenger\u2019s experience in the viral video and were sympathetic toward the poster.<\/p>\n

Esteffany wrote: “This would be my personal nightmare, please tell me they reimbursed you.” The original poster replied: “I haven\u2019t requested yet but I sure am going to LOL [laugh out loud].”<\/p>\n

Capri said: “The Amtrak being so expensive and then this UGH!”<\/p>\n

Britski said: “Ours broke down today and I had to uber all the way to Boston.”<\/p>\n

Madison wrote: “this happened to me last week coming home from boston to NYC!! i was walking to the cafe cart and almost flew out the freaking door. Terrifying.”<\/p>\n

Haley Grove said: “Omg [oh my God] I just got off a frozen Amtrak from Boston to NYC and my feet have never been colder. Almost ordered Uggs [the shoe brand].”<\/p>\n
