A touching tribute to New York City \u2014 and the nation \u2014 has made its way onto the White House Historical Association\u2019s new special-edition ornament, an homage to America\u2019s 250th birthday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The special ornament features six architectural treasures in the US to herald America\u2019s upcoming major event \u2014 including the Statue of Liberty<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With a brass base and 24-karat gold finish, the America250 icons ornament<\/a> pays tribute to the White House, Liberty Bell,\u00a0Statue of Liberty, Golden Gate Bridge, Gateway Arch and Mt. Rushmore.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, with the Statue of Liberty \u2014 that was so many people\u2019s introduction to this country in general for the people that came over and emigrated,\u201d said Luci Shanahan, the chief retail officer at the White House Historical Association, to The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat an incredibly emotional site that is,\u201d she said. \u201cWe didn\u2019t want to miss the opportunity to find other ways to teach and to find other ways to share with such an important year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new America250 icons ornament highlights six of America\u2019s architectural marvels, including the Statue of Liberty. White House Historical Association<\/p>\n

There will be about 100,000 of the limited-edition America250 icons ornaments sold. White House Historical Association<\/p>\n

Additionally, the group is rolling out its official commemorative ornament<\/a> of America\u2019s 250th Anniversary, featuring the Declaration of Independence.<\/p>\n

Since 1981, the White House Historical Association has produced the official White House Christmas Ornament annually.<\/p>\n

Those ornaments are sold to raise funds for the association\u2019s mission to promote the White House\u2019s history and are used to adorn the executive mansion. The group\u2019s mission came from former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The White House typically displays the group\u2019s annual Christmas ornaments on its decorative trees. REUTERS<\/p>\n

The new America250 ornament is being released in addition to the group\u2019s upcoming, official 2026 White House Christmas Ornament.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we came into this year, which is a really momentous year celebrating America\u2019s 250th anniversary, it\u2019s really recognized clearly as a once-in-a-generation event,\u201d Shanahan said. \u201cWe wanted to recognize that and design a beautiful piece that reflected how important that is.\u201d<\/p>\n

The association has made about 30,000 of the America250 ornaments so far, with plans to keep the total number below 100,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an extremely limited run,\u201d Shanahan said. <\/p>\n

The group is also rolling out its 2026 official commemorative ornament of America\u2019s 250th Anniversary. White House Historical Association<\/p>\n

America250, the nonpartisan group Congress established to plan national celebrations of the country\u2019s founding, has been working to weave some of the country\u2019s most iconic traditions into its festivities for the nation\u2019s 250th birthday.<\/p>\n
