The 44-year-old mom was waiting to pick up her 11-year-old daughter from dance class when she was carjacked at the corner of Broadway and Reade streets. Google Maps<\/p>\nA mom waiting to pick up her daughter from a Lower Manhattan dance class had her brand-new car stolen by a \u201cbrazen\u201d carjacking trio just blocks from federal court and City Hall, according to cops and the victim.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 44-year-old woman \u2013 who did not want to be identified \u2013 was parked at Broadway and Reade streets, waiting for her 11-year-old daughter to finish class at a nearby dance school, around 8 p.m. Tuesday when the callous crew stormed up to her Audi, which she had left running.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAll of a sudden, my door opens\u2026 the back door on my side, and also the passenger door,\u201d the woman told The Post by phone. \u201cAnd at first, I thought it was my daughter, [but it was] too soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I look up and see a man in a mask and he just told me to get out,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

By that point, the Brooklynite, who works in financial services in Midtown, knew she was in trouble.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI said, \u2018Oh my God,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cI immediately kind of figured out what was happening\u2026.I didn\u2019t see the other faces. I only saw him, and I was like, \u2018OK.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI grabbed my bag, grabbed the key, and I got out, stood on the corner of the street, and I started screaming for help\u2026that I was being carjacked,\u201d she recalled.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Two good Samaritans rushed to her side, with one of them calling 911 as the victim phoned her husband.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But the thieves soon realized their victim still had her car key and demanded she fork it over \u2013 so she hurled it into the street.<\/p>\n

The suspects ultimately ditched the brand-new Audi miles away in Canarsie, cops said. Google Maps<\/p>\n
\u201cI kind of wanted to throw it in the middle of Broadway, so maybe it will be crushed by a car, so I threw it far,\u201d she said. \u201cBut they got it and then they just drove off.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cops from the NYPD\u2019s 1st Precinct responded in less than a minute and took the victim into their cruiser to search for the suspects \u2013 to no avail \u2013 before bringing her back to pick up her daughter, she said.<\/p>\n
Officers drove both mother and daughter home, and ultimately found the unoccupied car around 10:20 p.m. in Canarsie, Brooklyn, according to police and the victim.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But the Audi \u2013 which the victim had only had for two weeks \u2013 was \u201ccompletely totaled,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not drivable,\u201d she said. \u201cWhen they found it, it looked OK \u2013 it just had a dent, but [the suspects] completely destroyed the entire suspension.\u201d<\/p>\n
Still, the startled mom said she was grateful that \u201cnobody got hurt.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI was very shaken that this could happen when there\u2019s so many people walking around, where it\u2019s presumably a safe area, and they just are so brazen to do that [when] there\u2019s a lot of police presence around there too,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She said she wouldn\u2019t change anything about the police response, which was \u201cjust incredible.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know what all they could be doing [differently],\u201d she said. \u201cI think this was done by what seemed like professionals and probably targeting a woman who they, I assume, won\u2019t fight back.\u201d<\/p>\n
