For 200 years, the General Theological Seminary has had a bell tower and trees add to its landscape.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/pix11.com\/news\/local-news\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:More Local News;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\"> More Local News <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In the near future, the space will be occupied by roughly 200 undergraduate students of Vanderbilt University, based in Nashville. The students will apply for a semester in New York, with the city itself and internships with alumni part of the curriculum.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cVanderbilt made a gift to found the university in Nashville to help repair the break between North and South post-Civil War. Essentially, we\u2019re coming home,\u201d Assistant Vice Chancellor for New York at Vanderbilt Univ. James Kellerhouse said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cIt\u2019s almost as if we\u2019re not even in this city. Now you step off of this into [the grounds] and it\u2019s a secret garden setting,\u201d Kellerhouse said of the space.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Vanderbilt is preserving the historic complex, working with the Landmarks Commission and community members to upgrade accessibility, modernize buildings and restore the tower.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWe are coming into a campus that\u2019s been here for 200 years. We feel strongly about our role as a steward, moving forward,\u201d Kellerhouse said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">New York has also approved a master\u2019s degree program in business technology.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Students will arrive in New York this coming fall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
