Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced the sentencing of a Manhattan man for defrauding his 89-year-old relative of his Soundview home.<\/p>\n
Frank Blackshear, 47, will serve six months behind bars and four years’ probation for falsifying records to steal his grandfather-in-law’s home on Taylor Avenue.<\/p>\n
DA Clark says the scheme happened between February and May 2023, while the victim, Milton Roberts, was staying in a nursing home.<\/p>\n
Blackshear transferred Roberts\u2019 property, a value of $698,000, with a deed bearing himself as the trustee, according to DA Clark.<\/p>\n
The DA says Blackshear also crafted legal documents to grant his wife, Jessica, power of attorney, and additional documents to give the couple control over Roberts’ assets and health care.<\/p>\n
Blackshear was charged with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, falsifying business records and offering a false instrument for filing. He pleaded guilty on Sept. 3.<\/p>\n
Clark says the court ordered Blackshear to transfer the house back to Roberts and reimburse him for legal fees.<\/p>\n
“Deed theft is a merciless crime that robs people of their homes, community, and financial stability. This defendant took advantage of a vulnerable elderly man. Now, he will spend time behind bars and pay restitution for the victim’s legal fees,\u201d said Clark.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Bronx District Attorney Darcel D.
