NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. \u2014 Junior Nick Rebracca scored six of his game-high 21 points in overtime as St. Joseph by-the-Sea registered a 58-53 CHSAA A division victory over host Salesian Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The Vikings, who also received a career-high 16 markers from junior Joey Moran, improved to 8-5 overall, including 6-4 in league play.<\/p>\n
Kevaughn Mitchell (13 points) and Joseph Secola (12 points) paced the Eagles (8-3 overall, 6-3 CHSAA). <\/p>\n
The teams entered the extra four-minute period deadlocked at 45-45 when Rebracca saved his best for last. The three-year varsity player recorded one two-point field goal and drained 4 of 6 free-throw attempts in the period.<\/p>\n
Nick Lee, meanwhile, tallied five of his nine points and Moran added a big bucket in OT to help the Vikings pull away.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Vikings trailed 27-26 at intermission but came to life in the third quarter thanks to Moran and Rebracca, who combined for 11 points. Head coach Mike Cortese\u2019s troops carried a 41-36 advantage into the final eight minutes.<\/p>\n
Secola, however, nailed a pair of three-pointers in the fourth en route to forcing the overtime.<\/p>\n

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Matthew Grace led a balanced attack with 16 points as the undefeated Warriors rolled to the non-league victory over the visiting Pirates on Wednesday in St. George.<\/p>\n
Derek Evo (14 points), Kayden King (13 points) and Rameik Black (eight points) also contributed offensively for Curtis, which improved to 9-0 overall.<\/p>\n
Curtis head coach Ryan McKay also praised Colin Reinhold and Richie Rainero for their defensive play.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was a huge win for us because Tottenville is in first place in the (PSAL 1A Staten Island division) and so are we in the (PSAL 1A Brooklyn II division) and come February, we should both be in the PSAL city playoffs,\u2019’ said McKay, who said Omar Jenkins helped the Warriors get separation with a pair of three-pointers. \u201dThis win was big for positioning and we wanted to leave no doubt where we belong come seeding time.\u2019’<\/p>\n
McKay also praised King for his leadership ability.<\/p>\n
