Other photos show what appear to be scorch marks at the point of impact.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:0.76660156;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37425892\" width=\"452\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/2025-crew-noticed-crack-one-113806941.jpg\" alt=\"Pilot's arm covered in cuts and blood, next to a cockpit control panel.\" class=\"wp-image-37425892\"  \/>The pilot\u2019s arm was cut in photos on social media.<\/p>\n<p>United Flight 1093 from Denver to Los Angeles had to make an emergency landing in Salt Lake City on Thursday. <\/p>\n<p>Some online observers suggested that the strike might have been the result of space debris or even a meteor hitting the jet.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Aviation Administration placed the probability of space debris causing serious injury to a commercial airline passenger at 1 trillion to 1 in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/sites\/faa.gov\/files\/Report_to_Congress_Reentry_Disposal_of_Satellites.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2023 report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/simpleflying.com\/united-pilot-injured-debris-windshield\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Experts said<\/a> the windshield crack could be explained by an electrical malfunction, but the scorch marks and the broken glass indicate the plane was likely hit by something.<\/p>\n<p>Birds, hail, and other objects tend to collide with planes at lower altitudes.<\/p>\n<p>What makes this reported incident different is that the Boeing 737 MAX 8 was at cruising altitude \u2014 far above those concerns.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:0.76464844;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37425893\" width=\"451\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/2025-crew-noticed-crack-one-113806948.jpg\" alt=\"A scorched and cracked airplane windshield.\" class=\"wp-image-37425893\"  \/>The windshield appeared scorched and cracked. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn Thursday, United flight 1093 landed safely in Salt Lake City to address damage to its multilayered windshield.
