{"id":94188,"date":"2026-01-08T22:32:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T22:32:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/94188\/"},"modified":"2026-01-08T22:32:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T22:32:10","slug":"kristi-noem-touts-roundup-of-54-immigrant-gangbangers-after-nyc-shooting-of-off-duty-cbp-cop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/94188\/","title":{"rendered":"Kristi Noem touts roundup of 54 immigrant gangbangers after NYC shooting of off-duty CBP cop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The summertime shooting of an off-duty federal border patrol agent at a Manhattan park by a pair of scooter-riding immigrants sparked a massive roundup Big Apple gangbangers, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announced at a Lower Manhattan press conference Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOperation Salvo\u201d targeted the Trinitarios street gang and took 54 members of the crew off the streets \u2014 with the feds laser-focused on the task after two reputed members<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/20\/us-news\/off-duty-border-patrol-agent-shot-in-face-during-nyc-park-robbery-before-striking-back-and-wounding-one-of-his-attackers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> shot and wounded the 42-year-old agent<\/a> at Fort Washington Park on July 19.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose individuals would have never been in this country if they hadn\u2019t been allowed in by the Biden Administration when they ignored our federal laws and allowed them to come in illegally,\u201d Noem said.<\/p>\n<p>DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said the summer time shooting of a federal agent prompted a major gang roundup.  James Keivom<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, the officer that was injured doesn\u2019t seek public attention,\u201d she said. \u201cHe wishes to remain anonymous, but he had a distinguished career and a legacy of service and continues to do so. But his life was forever altered by this heinous crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The alleged gunman in the Manhattan shooting, 21-year-old Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, was wounded when the federal cop returned fire \u2014 and was picked up by the NYPD just hours later.<\/p>\n<p>Noem said she was incensed that \u201cthese scumbags\u201d were members of the notorious gang, with the feds launching the operation to take down the crew. <\/p>\n<p>She said about 60% of the alleged gangbangers busted during the operation were shipped back to their native countries to face criminal charges there.<\/p>\n<p>One of 54 immigrant gangbangers arrested by the federal \u201cOperation Salvo\u201d sweep in New York City. James Keivom<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose arrested are violent transnational gang members and affiliates associated with Trinitarios, who are responsible for weapons trafficking, for human smuggling, for narcotics distribution and for armed robberies,\u201d Noem said. \u201cThey had perpetuated previous violent attacks across the city of New York City.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Authorities did not release the names of the reputed gangbangers who were charged, and had photos of four of the suspects at the press conference with the charges they face \u2014 but no names. <\/p>\n<p>Homeland Security officials did not immediately respond to a request for more information.<\/p>\n<p>She said Salvo is \u201cjust the beginning\u201d of the Trump Administration\u2019s war on illegal criminals.<\/p>\n<p>Frank Russo, New York Field Office director for CBP, said the cop shot in July inspired \u2018Operation Salvo.\u2019 James Keivom<\/p>\n<p>Trump was enraged over the July shooting in Manhattan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast night, in New York City, an incredible CBP Officer was shot in the face by an Illegal Alien Monster freed into the Country under Joe Biden,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/114887221069099658\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was apprehended at the Border in April 2023 but, instead of being deported, was RELEASED,\u201d he wrote. \u201cThe CBP Officer bravely fought off his attacker, despite his wounds, demonstrating enormous Skill and Courage,\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Frank Russo, director of New York Field Operations for CBP. said the 54 alleged gang members are \u201cloosely affiliated\u201d with Trinitarios.<\/p>\n<p>Russo said the federal sweep was named in part in honor of the wounded officer.<\/p>\n<p>One of 54 immigrant gangbangers arrested by the federal \u201cOperation Salvo\u201d sweep in New York City.
