Tenants in a Highbridge apartment building are living amongst what looks like a sewage-filled pit in their back patio at 993 Summit Ave.<\/p>\n
Garbage can be found floating above inches of sewage water. Barbie, who is a tenant in the building, says she is disgusted.<\/p>\n
“There’s people throwing their garbage.. there are feces here,” says Barbie.<\/p>\n
A thick odor fills the air of this entire building.<\/p>\n
“It has a smell.. you can smell it,” says Barbie.<\/p>\n
Residents say this building also has issues with mold, leaks, lack of heat and rats.<\/p>\n
“So far, we’ve caught four in one day.. and they attack you, you need to run,” explains Marilyn, who has been dealing with a rat infestation.<\/p>\n
Barbie, who hasn’t had heat or hot water for months, says something needs to change. <\/p>\n
“It’s unbearable; how it felt outside is how it felt in my apartment but 10 times worse,” she says.<\/p>\n
