{"id":95932,"date":"2026-01-10T19:00:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-10T19:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/95932\/"},"modified":"2026-01-10T19:00:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-10T19:00:09","slug":"dmv-shares-list-of-rejected-2025-personalized-plate-requests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/95932\/","title":{"rendered":"DMV shares list of rejected 2025 personalized plate requests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>They were kicked to the curb. <\/p>\n<p>The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles pumped the brakes on over 2,000 license plate requests in 2025 \u2014 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news10.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2026\/01\/Rejected-personalized-license-plate-requests-in-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">shared the complete list of humorous<\/a>, strange and vulgar rejects.<\/p>\n<p>Vanity plate submissions such as \u201c5HITSHOW,\u201d \u201cDSNUT5,\u201d \u201cBEEYATCH,\u201d \u201cBYSTUPID,\u201d \u201cHOEZONLY,\u201d \u201cMETH,\u201d \u201cD0.RAMI\u201d and \u201cMAFYA\u201d failed to stay in their lane, according to the DMV.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49707602;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38147780\" width=\"883\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/closeup-red-electric-car-tesla-118631714.jpg\" alt=\"Red Tesla car parked in New York City with a New York license plate.\" class=\"wp-image-38147780\"  \/>The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles rejected over 2,000 license plate requests in 2025.  jordi2r \u2013 stock.adobe.com<\/p>\n<p>Ones that used the letter F to stand for the expletive \u2014 like \u201cLTSFNGO,\u201d \u201cFNCOOL32,\u201d \u201cMILFGUY\u201d \u201cLUXAF,\u201d \u201cSWEETASF\u201d and \u201cFOXYAF\u201d \u2014 were also canned.<\/p>\n<p>Exclamatory plate proposals like \u201cDAMMMMMN,\u201d \u201cHEYYYYY\u201d and \u201cLMAOOOOO\u201d also didn\u2019t make the cut.<\/p>\n<p>And those that spelled out brand names, such as \u201cPEPSI,\u201d \u201cNOKIA\u201d \u201cROLEX,\u201d \u201cPRADA\u201d and \u201cTEMU\u201d were thrown out the window.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNYS DMV has a rigorous screening protocol for personalized license plate requests, rejecting any that are not in compliance with our regulations,\u201d the DMV said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.53753754;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38147970\" width=\"907\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/new-state-law-green-light-118631506.jpg\" alt=\"Sign on the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles office in Brooklyn.\" class=\"wp-image-38147970\"  \/>The DMV lists its guidelines for personalized plates on its website. AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Rules for personalized plates, which are listed on the <a href=\"https:\/\/dmv.ny.gov\/plates\/personalized-plate-numbers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">DMV\u2019s website<\/a>, include that they cannot \u201cbe considered obscene, derogatory, or offensive,\u201d or \u201cgive the appearance of an official plate or the configuration of special registration classes, ex. \u201cPOLICE\u201d or \u201cNYS.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tStart your day with all you need to know\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMorning Report delivers the latest news, videos, photos and more.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThanks for signing up!\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>They also can\u2019t contain only one letter or have six numbers followed by one letter and can\u2019t use the number zero or one between two letters to form a word. <\/p>\n<p>Hopefuls can <a href=\"https:\/\/transact3.dmv.ny.gov\/platespersonalized\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">search their unique plate proposal<\/a> on the DMV site to ensure someone else doesn\u2019t already own it.<\/p>\n<p>Personalized plates cost $60 initially, and then an additional yearly fee of $31.25, which is applied when drivers renew their registrations. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"They were kicked to the curb.
