A New Jersey girl seriously hurt after a serial vandal threw a baseball-sized rock at her school bus Wednesday is in intensive care at\u00a0Hackensack University Medical Center, hospital officials said.<\/p>\n

The 8-year-old, whose skull was fractured, is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit after having emergency surgery.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe girl will be OK. She did have surgery Thursday for a fractured skull, and she is recovering,\u201d Teaneck Mayor Mark J. Schwartz\u00a0told The Post.<\/p>\n

Hernando Garciamorales was arrested Friday and charged with\u00a0aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal mischief, resisting arrest by flight, and hindering,\u00a0New Jersey State Police\u00a0said.<\/a><\/p>\n

Garciamorales, 40, was arrested at a campsite in Old Croaker County Park in Bergen County, authorities said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The suspect, who was being held in Bergen County Jail pending a court appearance, has been linked to multiple rock throwing incidents in\u00a0 the Bogota\u00a0section of Bergen County, officials said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The children were traveling back to Yeshivat Noam Jewish day school in Paramus after a class trip to the Liberty Science Center when the\u00a0large rock smashed through the bus window.<\/p>\n

The bus had no religious signage and there\u2019s no indication the incident was a bias crime, the mayor said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Schwartz, along with Deputy Mayor Elie Katz had offered a $5,000 reward\u00a0\u201cout of our own pockets\u201d\u00a0to anyone coming forward with information, the mayor said.\u00a0It\u2019s unclear if the reward was paid out.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Now, school officials are concentrating efforts\u00a0on helping\u00a0students deal with the harrowing incident,\u00a0according to NJ.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The school \u201chas deployed its mental health and guidance teams to support the students and their families,\u201d\u00a0Yeshivat Noam said in a letter to parents.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority,\u201d Rabbi Chaim Hagler, Head of School at Yeshivat Noam,\u00a0wrote\u00a0in the letter.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur focus remains on supporting the injured student and her family, as well as ensuring the emotional health of our entire student body.
